Dedicated As One In Christ

John Tilton

Scripture

1 Corinthians 12:12-14

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized byone Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

Observation

Paul taught about the body of Christ as believers and followers; and how each person then and now have a part in who they were and we are, as well as their call/contribution and ours in relation to Christ. Our common bond is Jesus Christ and knowing Him as our Savior. Summarily, we all make up the body of Christ, each having a role and relationship with Christ.

Application

It sounds great and pretty straightforward. However, what we hear, what we say and what we feel and do is often not the same. What I’m speaking of in being the body of Christ is the dedication to one another and Christ as the body of Christ. Not just lip service or that it sounds good and feels good, but do we example these scriptures in our lives? Do we each compliment our fellow brother or sister in Christ as in relationship and serving together for the cause, call and contributing to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ? It truly is a matter of living out our dedication to Christ and therefore our dedication to one another. Bottom line; are we on Team Jesus?

Prayer

Dear Jesus, may my words and thoughts be enacted in my words and actions to be a team player in the body of Christ. May I walk my talk and do as you call me to do in my relationships with fellow believers and using my talents you’ve given me to make a contribution to the call and cause of your Kingdom.
