Faith for Christ or Circumstances?

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

Luke 8:24The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. 25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.

Observation

A storm large enough to threaten the lives of the disciples, arose as they were crossing a lake in a boat. The disciples feared for their lives, called on Jesus as Master for help. Jesus miraculously calmed the winds and rain. It was a lesson in faith in relationship to their Master - not just faith to change circumstances.

Application

WOW! Once again, I see the Scriptures proclaiming, highlighting Jesus Person as Master and Messiah!

I’ve heard so many preachers use this text to primarily preach the Christ who changes circumstances - which He does. Too often, the message of faith’s question is presented this way: “Where is your faith…for provision, healing, a new job, to do a miracle to improve your life…?”

Today, I want to live differently by focusing on growing my faith in Jesus - not just to “meet my needs, change my circumstances…” But to increase my faith and trust in Him as Master of my heart, life, circumstances…no matter what the storm. He is Master whether the storm subsides or not!

Prayer

WhoooooHooooo! Thank You Master and Messiah Jesus! I wan tot learn and grow in faith to trust you as my Master, no matter what the circumstances are. I know You can change any circumstance - but whether you do or not - Help me to love, trust and grow in faith…in who You are! I love You!!
